Jo and Anna's Story
Anna’s Story – A Life Full of Creativity and Connection
Anna has lived at Acorn Village for 30 years, where she enjoys a happy and fulfilling life surrounded by friends and a caring team. Her mum Jo says:
“It’s good for my son and I to know that she is safe and happy living at Acorn… The House Managers are always available to talk things through and come up with solutions. Although Anna needs one-to-one supervision, the village life gives her the freedom to chat to visitors and staff as they go about their daily tasks. However busy they are, they always seem to have time for Anna.”
Anna takes part in a range of activities designed to suit her interests and talents. As Phil Wilden, Head of Day Services, explains:
“Anna loves creating art that relates to the body — papier mâché kidneys or hearts — and works with huge enthusiasm in her sessions. She’s a born performer, often taking centre stage in our productions and bringing her unique energy to every show.”
From painting and textiles to theatre trips and performances, Anna’s days are filled with creativity, laughter, and friendship. Her story reflects what makes Acorn Village so special — a place where everyone is encouraged to “be the best they can be.”
